COURSE: Innovation and Creativity in Industry Master of Design MDes/MTech/PgDip/PgCert

Cranfield University
Study Basis:
Full Time, Part Time

Overview

Creativity and innovation are essential if business and industry are to compete internationally. Increasing recognition by government and industry of the need to enhance the role of creativity in all aspects of business has resulted in the demand for graduates of engineering, technology and science-based disciplines who possess the creative skills and insight needed to improve organisation effectiveness.

Cranfield’s Master of Design (MDes) for Innovation and Creativity in Industry has been developed in collaboration with employers to address this demand. The course integrates the different elements of creativity, technology and business to develop creative design literate engineers, scientists and management postgraduates able to bring the ‘creative’ sector to the core activities of industry.

The course is jointly administered by Cranfield and the University of the Arts London (UAL), ensuring students benefit from the expertise of two organisations recognised as leaders in their fields.

Course Structure

The course comprises eight one-week assessed modules (seven compulsory and one elective), a group design project, which includes individual concept development through collaboration, and an individual design project resulting in a public exhibition.

Students undertaking the Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) complete the eight modules and the group project. Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert) students complete six modules.
