Richmond, The American International University in London is an independent, not-for-profit, international, liberal arts and professional studies university established in 1972 (The original Richmond College, founded in 1843, was a constituent institution of the University of London until the founding of the present university which bears its name and occupies its campus.)

The University is incorporated as a not-for-profit educational institution in the State of Delaware in the USA and is a recognized 501(c)(3) public educational charity under US law.


Richmond is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education. Richmond is licensed to award Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Associate of Arts, Master of Arts, Master of Science and the Master of Business Administration degrees by the Department of of Education in the State of Delaware.

Richmond is accredited in the United Kingdom by the Open University Validation Services and holds related degree validation. Its degrees are also designated by the Department for Education and Employment of Her Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom (Recognized Awards) Statutory Order 1996 (SI 2564) dated October 9, 1996. Richmond is a member of the Association of Business Schools in the United Kingdom.
