Founded in 1950 for the purpose of training actors and teachers, the college is the largest and most comprehensive specialist provider of performance practice and research in Western Europe. Pioneering the first vocational degrees in theatre in 1976, the college offers a wide range of specialist undergraduate programmes. In 1996, unique degrees in opera and theatre were introduced by distance learning and are now delivered internationally. The college auditions and interviews students nationally and internationally through UCAS and the British Council Education Counselling Service.
