University Profile

City University, London

City University, London, has its origins in the Northampton Institute, founded in 1894 aimed to meet the educational, social and physical health needs of young people of the Finsbury area in the City of London. City University, London was granted its Charter in 1966.

Since then City University, London has expanded to cover a broad range of subjects, including informatics, business and management, social sciences, health and law. It has also expanded considerably in size, both organically and by the incorporation of other Colleges. City University, London continues to build on its close links with the City of London and the professions. It does all this on the basis of a clear strategy, the frequent review of its courses and its role as 'the university for business and the professions'. Over 60% of students graduate with at least some exemption towards professional qualification or registration.
